Hello! My name is Colin Onderdonk, and I am the new Creative/Marketing intern at J.O. I recently finished my junior year at Texas Christian University, and I am thrilled to spend my summer here at J.O.
I grew up in Colleyville, Texas, which is about 30 minutes northeast of downtown Fort Worth. I love DFW so much and totally wouldn’t be opposed to living here forever. I went to Grapevine Faith Christian School, where I played golf and baseball. I also participated in school plays and led the school’s worship band.
In 2017, I began my freshman year as a Horned Frog! For the first few semesters, I double majored in business and film-television-digital media (FTDM). I eventually transferred from business to strategic communication because I wanted to focus more on the creative side of marketing and advertising. Once I switched, I truly felt at home in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication. Now a rising senior, I am so thankful for the many amazing opportunities I’ve had at TCU.
Through my studies and experiences in strategic communication, I’ve learned a lot about the advertising industry. One of the most important aspects of the field is that it’s constantly adapting and advancing, and there is value in staying current on new trends and ideas. It’s also essential to be authentic and clear in your messaging.
In May 2021, I will graduate with a Bachelor of Science in strategic communication and FTDM. During my time at TCU, I’ve had some incredible experiences working within the realm of strategic communication. One of my favorite roles so far has been working as a photographer/videographer for TCU’s Roxo Agency. At Roxo, along with projects involving photography and videography, I gained experience in project management, writing, graphic design and social media strategy. In the fall, I will return to Roxo as VP of Creative & Culture, and I am so excited to continue my journey there!
Music is a huge passion of mine. I love to sing, play guitar and produce music. Over the past two years, I’ve been live streaming concerts on Twitch.tv. I love to make and share music and definitely do not plan on stopping any time soon.
Though I’ve only been at J.O. for a short time, I am already learning so much. I am delighted to be part of such an amazing team. I’m surrounded by people who have years of experience, and I get to learn from their expertise every single day. I cannot wait to see what my time here brings.
Cheers,
Colin
