A Multidisciplinary Exhibition That United Creatives and Community Through Art and Dialogue
In a politically charged moment, J.O. Agency, Gallery 440 and Immergent set out to create space for honest conversation through art. Good Morning/Mourning America became a seven-day, multidisciplinary exhibition designed to unite creatives, professionals and the broader community through visual art, music, writing and civic dialogue.
J.O.’s Strategic Vision
- Create an inclusive platform for Texas artists, musicians and writers to respond to the current American moment
- Build cross-sector engagement between the arts community, civic leaders and the general public
- Produce a professionally executed exhibition that elevated participants and sparked meaningful dialogue
- Demonstrate sustainable, replicable model for large-scale public art initiatives
J.O.’s Creative & Production Approach
J.O., Gallery 440 and Immergent developed a comprehensive production strategy that combined rigorous curation with accessible community programming. The team:
- Built two dedicated submission websites and executed a two-month statewide call for entries
- Developed targeted outreach strategy combining earned media, paid placements in major markets (Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston), social media and direct engagement with university department heads
- Secured features on WFAA’s Good Morning Texas, Dallas Morning News and Patron magazine to amplify visibility
- Led five-week juried review with Gallery 440, Immergent team members, a lifelong gallerist and the Director of Fort Worth Public Arts
- Selected 47 creatives from submissions and coordinated artwork collection
- Oversaw three large-scale installations, including one outdoor and two indoor projects
- Photographed each work and produced 104-page printed and digital catalog featuring artist biographies and selected pieces
- Soft opening during Near Southside’s Third Thursday Art Crawl
- Formal opening reception (60 attendees)
- Morning/Mourning After Coffee featuring live readings and musical performances (50+ attendees)
- Grand finale at The Modern Art Museum (100+ attendees) with performances, moderated civic panel and community leaders in dialogue
- Three large-scale installations, live fashion performance art by a Project Runway® designer and multimedia works creating an immersive, cross-sector experience
